Bring Black History Month to life through Chats with historians!

UKRI convenes, catalyses and invests in close collaboration with others to build a thriving, inclusive research and innovation system.

Support from UKRI allows school students to revisit British history by connecting with historians and experts.

History doesn’t need to stay in the past – this Black History Month, bring history to life through live Chats with historians with I’m History, Get me out of here!

I’m History will run throughout October 2022.

Students can connect with historians championing lesser-known Black British figures throughout history by:

  • Reading profiles of historical figures
  • Chatting with historians, in live text-only chats
  • Asking them follow-up questions

I’m History is a moderated, flexible activity, that is safe, secure and easy to use. It’s suitable for ages 10 to 18.

Students can ask the questions that are important to them and gain a deeper understanding of Black British history, supporting SMSC development.

Thanks to funding from UKRI, it’s free for UK state-maintained schools.
