Question: Why did Walter Tull decide to be the frist black man in the Britsh army

It was more about him feeling the need to do his duty, than especially wanting to break new ground. It’s important to know that many Black men had served in the British Army before Walter – but it was the fact that he showed great leadership, bravery and fighting skill that sets Walter apart, and saw him rise through the ranks in a way that was unprecedented for Black men before.
